3 Who is the Librarian anyway???
A little about Mrs. Randy Leigh Grant * MHS Librarian since 2011 * My Family- Married to Richie Grant for 24 years. 2 children – Jordan(23) and Jase(18) * My Personality-friendly, outgoing * My Expectations-the best of you and from you * See me for any help with books, research, computers, etc.

6 When Is the Library Open?
Library is open: Before school (7:30-7:45) During your AR day and time (each grade has a day to come) After School (but not for long, because, like you, I will be ready to leave) !  CLOSED DURING BREAK!

7 About book check out… How many at once? How long can I keep them?
What happens if I don’t turn them in on time? What happens if I lose a book? Do not reshelf books – turn them in at the front desk!

9 What kind of “stuff’ can I find in library?
Books ---for school and fun Magazines Newspapers Computers –for research and school work only!! (and you know what I mean) Printers--- $.10 per copy Poster boards - $1.00

10 Ridiculously Simple rules
All other school rules apply in the library. Ex. No food or drinks, no electronics , use inside voices, etc… Don’t be RUDE. No calling out, No talking loud, NO profanity, BE NICE  No violence of any kind. No hitting, poking, pushing, etc…(even if you are “Just Playin”) Treat objects in library with care and respect. No leaning in chairs or stools, no sitting on tables, no mistreating books, follow computer rules. 5. Come in and do what you came to do. Don’t waste time, Don’t disturb others Return all library books on time or early Minion Class Rules

Use the OPAC (online public access catalog) Scan shelves Read summaries Look at book reviews AR Bookfind

13 Accelerated Reading REWARDS:
Pizza Party each nine weeks for each student who earns 25 points. T-shirt for 50 points Field trip at the end of the year for top 80 readers with 100 points points – name on plaque Cash prizes: 1st - $ nd – $ rd - $50.00 Reach goals set by your teacher: 100% test grade You will also get grades in class for novels assigned by your teachers.

14 Reading Bingo Receive prize with each bingo Name put on bulletin board
Reading Bingo Receive prize with each bingo Name put on bulletin board * Name goes in drawing for each bingo name drawn each 9 weeks for $25.00

15 Bookmark Challenge! Grades 9-12
Winners will have their bookmark printed for everyone to take Theme of bookmark must be books, reading, or your favorite characters from a book----use words or pictures or both Submit bookmarks to Mrs. Grant by December 1 One winner from each grade Put name and grade on back

16 As a participant of the MHS Accelerated Reader program, I, ___________________________, promise not to : 1. Give or receive answers to/from other students. 2. Take a test for another student or have someone take a test for me. 3. Try to take a test without first reading the book. 4. I will not watch a movie and try to take a test. Consequences: I, _______________________, understand that if I break ANY of the AR rules that I will lose all of my points up to that time and will not be allowed to participate in any of the other rewards.

17 READINg fair MHS does participate in the State Reading Fair.
If you think you would like to take part in this, here are a few suggestions: Decide if you would like to do an individual or group(2 people) board As you read books this year, find one that you really liked to do your for your board. Look for supplies and ideas during the first semester. The MHS reading fair will be held shortly after Christmas Break. If you advance….there is a district, regional, and state competition. READINg fair
