Check out library books. Book Talks Book Fairs Internet Safety Lessons Research Skills Technology Lessons And much more...

 You may check out up to 3 books or 2 books and a magazine at a time IF you are in good standing with the library.  The check out period is 3 weeks. There is a grace period of one week.  Magazines and Reference materials can only be checked out overnight and must be returned before 9 AM the next day.  WE DO CHARGE FINES!

 If you lose a book or have a fine, you are REQUIRED to pay for it. The charge will follow you to high school and may impact your future.  If you turn in a book late, you will be charged 5 cents each day for each book. The maximum charge is $5.00 per book.  If you turn in a magazine or reference book late, the charge is 25 cents each day.  To keep fines from getting larger, turn in your overdue item(s) as soon as possible!

 Your language arts teacher will bring you once every three weeks for a lesson and checkout.  Between these visits you are welcome to visit the library during classes as long as you have a pass from a teacher or administrator.  You may also visit first thing in the morning and right after school.

 If you come to the library on a pass, you should use an official library pass that looks like this:

 When you arrive in the library, come immediately to the circulation desk.  Place your signed pass in the basket on the circulation desk.

 After you drop your pass off, you will need to sign in on the laptop at the circulation desk.

 BOB – Battle of the Books – is a reading competition team where students read selected books, compete in-house, then challenge other schools.  Your language arts teacher will have sign up sheets for BOB coming soon...  Meetings will be held during Lunch and Learn.

 Virginia Readers’ Choice is EASY!  Just read 4 books off the VRC shelf before April 1 st and take the AR quiz for each book.  In April, tell us which book was your favorite.  In May, get invited to a party in the library.

Accelerated Reader Wild Card Raffle Tickets  When you finish reading a book, take the AR quiz.  If you get an 80% or better, let us know. We will give you a raffle ticket to fill out.  Put your completed ticket in the bucket on the circulation desk.  Several times a month, we will draw names and issue prizes.

 New books will not have AR quizzes.  You CAN still take quizzes on any book in the library that is labeled AR.  We will be looking into alternatives for new books.

 Before you can use any of the really cool features in our catalog, you need to know your username and password. REMEMBER:  USERNAME = your student ID number  PIN (Password) = the last four digits of your student number.

 Online renewal: You can renew your books online up to three times IF you do not have any overdue books or fines.  Online hold: You can place a book on hold through the catalog. Please limit holds to books that are checked out. If you place a hold on an available book, we will not fill it.  Email: Give us your email address, and you can receive reminders about overdue books.
