Planning a response Choose the question – pin down what it asks.
Establish an argument – a thesis – for your discussion: what is your basic answer to the question? Identify topic sentences/ focus for each paragraph – you might want to think about ‘different interpretations’ when you decide on the order of your paragraphs. Identify evidence for each paragraph that will be rich for analysis. Consider the effects of the evidence in detail – are there a variety of effects? Remember – deep thinking!
