ECCHS Registration Information for 2017-2018

Registration Reminders
Registration for the school year will be held February 23 – March 1, 2017 in Room F-5 Students will be assigned a time to report for registration. It is your responsibility to leave class and be on time for your appointment. When you report, you will bring your course offering sheet with you. You will mark 8 courses, plus 2 alternates, on your sheet (for a total of 10 classes) You must have Pre-Approval to register for Journalism (Mrs. J) or Work-Based Learning (Mrs. Crook).

Graduation Requirements
Minimum Requirements for a high school diploma English/Language Arts – 4 credits Mathematics – 4 credits Science – 4 credits Social Studies – 4 credits Health/PE – 1 full credit (.5/.5) or 3 credits of JROTC CTAE and/or Fine Arts and/or Foreign Language – 3 credits Other – can range from 6-10 credits Minimum – 28 credits (meeting all required areas above)

Course Guide by Subject
The following slides list the courses offered at ECCHS in each subject area. For registration purposes, these courses are sequential by grade level. Some courses are preceded by an “Honors,” “AP,” or “DE” designation: “Honors” indicates a course which covers the standards of the college prep course, but is taught at an accelerated pace. AP denotes Advanced Placement. This is a rigorous course taught at a college level by a high school teacher. DE denotes Dual Enrollment. This is a college course taken off-campus as part of the Move on When Ready program. Students must meet college admissions criteria to participate.

Pathways Students at ECCHS are required to have a minimum of three courses in either CTAE and/or Fine Arts and/or Foreign Language. Students are strongly encouraged to complete a full pathway (3 sequential courses) in a chosen area of study. Some pathways* have a national credentialing exam at the conclusion of the 3rd course. Students who take and pass this exam can earn an industry certification and are eligible to receive a red cord to wear at graduation.

The Importance of RIGOR
In order to be eligible for Georgia’s HOPE Scholarship, students must graduate with a Core GPA of a 3.0 (minimum) and have passed a minimum of four (4) Rigor courses. Your Core GPA only includes courses taken in English, Math, Science, Social Studies and Foreign Language. At ECCHS, students can meet Rigor requirements for HOPE eligibility by taking the following courses: Advanced Algebra Advanced Mathematical Decision Making Pre-Calculus Accelerated Analytic Geometry B/Advanced Algebra Accelerated Pre-Calculus Honors Calculus Chemistry or Honors Chemistry Human Anatomy & Physiology Physics AP Language & Composition AP Environmental Science AP Statistics AP Government AP Computer Science Principles Spanish II or Spanish III Russian II or Russian III Any Dual Enrollment courses in Core Content areas

Be Prepared! When you register, have your course offering sheet filled out ahead of time. Be ON TIME for your appointment. Remember – only choose those courses you are willing to take (this includes alternates)!
