Assignment Used For Assessment: Thoreau “Civil Disobedience” How to earn a 9 today: Today you will be graded on the AP nine-point scale. In addition to today’s learning scale you will need to aim for an 8 or 9 on the AP Rhetorical Analysis Scale: 9 Essays earning a score of 9 meet the criteria for a score of 8 and, in addition, are especially sophisticated in their argument, thorough in their development or impressive in their control of language. 8 Effective Essays earning a score of 8 effectively analyze* how [Author] uses rhetorical strategies to [present message to audience]. They develop their analysis with evidence and explanations that are appropriate and convincing, referring to the passage explicitly or implicitly. The prose demonstrates a consistent ability to control a wide range of the elements of effective writing but is not necessarily flawless.

Collect: Acts 1-4 Crucible Annotations & questions. Learning Target:  I can analyze the central ideas and claims of an argument and explain how the evidence and language used support those ideas. R2, R4, R6 Warm Up: Discuss the Play - 5 minutes: Focus on central ideas, what happened in each act etc. Compare your answers in Act 1-4 with your partners. Defend your answers.
