3 What is NCYC? National Catholic Youth Conference
The National Catholic Youth Conference (NCYC) is the single largest event organized by the Catholic Church in the United States. This biennial event will bring together nearly 25,000 Catholic teenagers and chaperones from around the country. Office of Youth and Young Adult Ministry

National Catholic Youth Conference What will we do at NCYC? NCYC is an exciting, three-day experience of prayer, community, and empowerment for Catholic teenagers and their adult chaperones. 5 “Here I am Lord, Aqui Estoy Señor” ”
National Catholic Youth Conference “Here I am Lord, Aqui Estoy Señor” ” The theme for the 2017 NCYC is Called – Llamados reflects the richness and distinctiveness of our Catholic sacramental heritage. Each of the general sessions will look at a response to God's call. Thursday Evening: Chris Stephanic is an internationally acclaimed author and speaker, who has devoted his life to inspiring people to live a bold, contagious faith. Friday Morning: Sr. Miriam topic will include authentic love, conversion, beauty, and the healing power of Jesus Christ. Saturday Morning: Brian Greenfield brings the message of Jesus Christ to others and knows that there is a prevailing hopelessness in this world that can only be remedied through an encounter with Christ. National Catholic Youth Conference What to expect upon arrival Parish Group Leaders will be given hotel room keys for their entire group upon arrival. Participants should expect: A Registration Packet, credential & bag tag (for backpacks, etc. being taken into sessions.) 16 Thematic Park – The Villiage
National Catholic Youth Conference Thematic Park – The Villiage Convention Center Halls A-E The NCYC Thematic Park- The Village Called from Sea to Shining Sea is a venue that offers interactive, educational, and experiential activities in addition to traditional exhibits. As you enter The Village, you will see the main camp pavilion and tower that welcomes participants. A wide open entry area will welcome all into the park pavilion. The areas on the main square will help add to the camp art and environment with NFCYM being the “Camp Office,” the merchandise trailer serving as the “Camp Store,” the bishops’ area as a “Camp Site,” and plenty of arts and crafts and low ropes course activities off the main section plus a storytelling area for vocations. There will be various colored “trails” that will help lead attendees the Chapel, the Archery Course, Games, High Ropes, Coffee House, and Service areas. They will also lead them to the exhibitors, our national partners, the Marketplace, and interactive venues. Office of Youth and Young Adult Ministry

17 Spiritual Opportunities
National Catholic Youth Conference Spiritual Opportunities Prayer is an essential component of the NCYC. Through prayer the Catholic Christian community is grounded in the Lord. The days are interwoven with various Catholic prayer forms, to give youth and adults alike, an experience of the breadth of prayer within the church. During the Conference Diocesan Gathering and Prayer Service on Thursday Daily Liturgy on Friday Closing Liturgy on Saturday Prayer Chapel available throughout the weekend Sacrament of Reconciliation available throughout the weekend Large Prayer experiences at the beginning of all main sessions Parish/Diocesan group prayer opportunities Office of Youth and Young Adult Ministry

Diocesan & Chaperone Preparations Diocesan staff will attend daily briefings with the national staff. One person per parish/school will attend daily check in meeting with diocesan staff for updates. Every participant and chaperone will be given emergency contact information as part of their credentials. Official NCYC name badge must be worn to gain entry to all functions. A $25 fee must be paid in order to receive a new credential. Conference paperwork: Individuals carry a copy of Medical Form; Chaperone and Diocesan Group Leader will carry copies of Medical Forms. Backpacks, Bags, and Purses: All bags must be tagged to be allowed in the convention center or arena. Bag tags will be issued during registration. Personal Responsibility: Behavior and Safety Guidelines Buddy system & parish check-ins Chaperone should know where participants are at all times Code of Behavior Everyone is expected to carry own copy of medical forms at all times Notify Diocesan Leader of any behavior problems, injuries or illness Hotel rooms – for sleeping only, visiting to be done in public spaces (meeting room, lobby, breakfast area, pool on Saturday evening prior to curfew hotel room changes may only be made by the diocesan group leader – Deacon Al Forsythe Office of Youth and Young Adult Ministry

Emergency and Crisis Response Plan: We will designate a Diocesan Meeting Place to be used In the event of a major emergency at the conference . As soon as possible, the Diocesan Office will be contacted and someone will then contact each parish home contact person. Appropriate casual clothing (plan to dress in layers) “NCYC is a casual dress event. Casual dress includes blue jeans, but prohibits short shorts, tank tops, tube tops, and anything that does not promote Christian values including references to weapons, tobacco or alcohol products. Money ($50.00 maximum) for: ** Visa/American Express Gift Cards preferred Meals (all basic meals are provided) Recommended $2-5 for Mass collection tips for hotel housekeeper & bus driver (Recommended $2/day per person) Snacks, books, or souvenirs Water bottle Leave valuables at home…label all items (name, parish, diocese). 23 Odds and Ends National Catholic Youth Conference
Absentee Excuse Letters for school will be provided to parish group leaders and are available online at the Diocese Youth Ministry Website. Phone Calls/Texting – to family and friends should be kept to a minimum so as to be fully engaged in the content of the conference. Diocesan Tweeting to cell phones will be for official information to sign up send a text to with KnoxvilleYM as the subject Suggested that Parish Chaperones use “Group Me” or “Band”to communicate to your small groups.
