When we get there children will be divided into activity groups (of 12)- these will include friendship groups and will be chosen by the year 6 teachers and announced on arrival. Each group will have a Sefton Park group leader who will be the lead contact for the group throughout the week. We will have a minimum of 8 members of staff there throughout the week, including Maggie Smithson, Isaac Fiakkas and James Moody for the entire week.

Rooms It is a large site with modern en suite rooms. There will be a maximum of 6 children per room (usually 4). Groups will again be based around friendships but will be chosen by year 6 teachers and announced on arrival. (These will not be identical to activity groups). There will be Sefton Park staff residing in each building available, if necessary, 24 hours a day.

Some typical activities – ours will be confirmed when we get there: Abseiling Aeroball Archery Raft building Crate challenge Vertical challenge Low level ropes Trapeze Zip wire Survival skills Evening activities, including a disco, hopefully!

Sample itinerary: 07.00 PGL staff wake the group 08.15 breakfast (English, continental, cereal, toast, drinks) 09.00 First activity session 10.30 break 10.45 Second activity session 12.15 Hot lunch or packed lunch 13.45 Third activity session 15.15 Break 15.30 Fourth activity session 17.00 Supervised free time 17.30-19.00 Evening meal 19.00-20.30 evening entertainment, group leaders assisting party leaders until 21.00 From 21.00-23.00 there are PGL staff on active night duty. Throughout the night there will be a senior PGL member on call.

What children can take (Maggie): Pocket money in a labelled canister/ purse/wallet, maximum £10 for the week which will be given to the group leaders on arrival for safekeeping. (an assortment of coins is better than a note) There is a small shop which is open at specific times most days. Sleeping bag and pillow. Items on the kit list: children will only be allowed to do some of the activities if they have socks. Children will have to transport their own possessions across the site to their rooms, so it important that they can manage the one bag/case they bring, plus their sleeping bag and pillow. A teddy or comforter from home. A book for bedtime reading. A disposable camera with their name on (plaster/masking tape/biro)

What children cannot take: Absolutely no mobile phones or electronic equipment

Medication A member of staff from Sefton Park will be our designated medical officer: you will need to give any medication to them on departure day. Consent forms are available tonight and can be completed here or taken home and returned. We will take a small supply of Calpol, which we can give your child if you have given permission. School staff cannot give medication without the relevant forms having been completed and medication being correctly labelled and discussed with the member of staff on departure day.

Communication We will ring or text school each day (at a time when we are free to do so!) to let you know a brief account of the main highlights. This will then be posted on the website in the parents’ information section, and put up on the board in Reception. A request from office staff: please do not ring for updates! If you have an emergency and need to contact your child you can ring school during the day or the emergency contact number (which will be given out soon) outside school hours.

Arriving and returning Children must be brought in between 8:30-9:00 on the Monday. If you have medication to sign over you will need to arrive at 8:00. We will be leaving school at 10:30 and we are due to arrive at camp in time for lunch, so your child will not need to bring a packed lunch or order school dinner. We anticipate arriving back at school around 3.00-3.15 on the Thursday. We will provide updated details once we are underway.

Any questions (adult questions as priority)
