15. Did You Know? Many people living during the time of Christopher Columbus didn’t even know that the Western Hemisphere existed.

16. Columbus’s discovery of North America made people in Europe, Asia, and Africa realize that there was a new place to explore and discover. People began to refer to this new place as the New World. It was the land in the Western Hemisphere.
