Kept the national bank Wanted to keep government small The election was again against Adams and Jefferson. Adams signed the Alien and Sedition Acts, which tainted his reputation and Jefferson won the presidency. Jefferson kept Alexander Hamilton’s bank. However, he really wanted to reduce national spending and keep our government small. However his presidency doubled the size of our country. Jefferson as President

Napoleon need $ for war in Europe Great Britain mad Louisiana doubled US territory for $15 million Constitution? Access to New Orleans allowed us to trade goods down the Mississippi River Napoleon used the money to fight and take over Europe, including Great Britain. Great Britain got mad because we essentially helped France in their attempt to take over all of Europe. But we doubled the size of the United States for a very small amount of money. This money is worth trillions of dollars today. The Constitution didn’t allow us to expand, but we decided to do so anyway.
