PHYSICAL FORM/WHITE CARD Reminder: Should have been turned in by now; students must have med. Info on file before allowed to practice Concussion Form: SACS Mandatory, due Friday 8/26 $10 Transportation Fee: SACS Mandatory, checks payable to Woodside Middle School, due Friday 8/26 Team T-Shirt/Sweatshirt Money: Online Store Team Snack Money: $5 due Friday 8/26 Team Pictures: bring envelope (handed out later) with your order to picture day, September 2nd; wear team uniform. Inhaler form for meets-If you turned in to nurse we will copy, if not complete form and turn in to Coaches

4 Practice Schedule Calendar is posted on Team Website
Check Team Website frequently for updates Most practices 3:00 – 4:30 at WMS Fridays at 3:45 Pick-up: at door 14 (Athletic door), no later than 15 minutes after dismissal time (3x’s you’re out).

5 Attendance Policy Must notify coaches in writing ( preferred to Coach Hodson re: boys/girls) when missing a practice 3x’s – “you’re out” 3 unexcused absences and student is removed from team Excused Absence- when student has an excused absence from school the day of practice or due to participation in a SCHOOL sponsored club/program (such as Select Choir) Participation in club sports and/or other non-SACS extra-curricular activities is secondary: We expect you to attend all Wednesday meets, Conference meet if applicable and practice with the team at least 3 times a week. Unexcused absence from meet will not be tolerated and will effect placement on Varsity/JV teams.

6 After School Study Session
Mandatory 2:20 – 3:00 p.m., Monday – Wednesday Go home after school on days with evening practices Appropriate behavior-- may be asked to leave study session if disruptive; if so, counts as unexcused absence BRING: Healthy snack Water Something to read or homework to do Gym bag with everything you need for practice Students can’t go back to school lockers after 3:00. Everything must be put in gym lockers. School is not responsible for lost or theft of items.

7 Clothing If you stay for practice, you will be running with us whether or not you have the following items. Students are not allowed to remain unsupervised at school while the rest of the team is out running. Come prepared!!! Running Shoes Shirt Shorts Sweats/long-sleeves We will practice outside- keep in mind the weather. MEETS – wear team uniform. Bring sweats for before/after meet. (Replacement cost $40 for lost or damaged uniform)

8 Team Expectations Good Grades come first. STUDENT – Athletes
Must be passing all classes at Midterms, probation from competition if on “F” List. Appropriate behavior : Good attitude Be cooperative Be respectful Encourage teammates Bullying will not be tolerated – zero tolerance

9 Middle School Cross Country

10 MEET Procedure Home meet go home after school and be at course by 4:00 p.m. Home meets – course is at Van Hoozen Park behind fire station on Aboite Ctr. Rd. Summit meet at same location. Away meets –go home after school and return by 3:45 for Wednesday meets. Enter at Door 14 and meet by locker rooms Saturday meets. Meet at school at designated time. Parents may speak to coaches with issues after meets or practices, not during. is preferred form of communication. All students must ride bus unless parent personally signs sheet prior to the end of meet. Only parents may take their child home. Inappropriate behavior on the bus could result in exclusion from riding the bus.

11 MEET Procedure, cont. Good Sportsmanship must be displayed at all times. At home meets: the entire team helps to set up and remove flags; no one leaves until all items are put away. All athletes are encouraged to stay to the end of meet to motivate and support all team members. Everyone participates (varsity first 7, reserve next 7). Varsity Spots will be earned for Saturday meets according to the most consistent times and attendance; maximum time of 20:00 minutes for all runners. Explanation of scoring. Meet distance is 3,000 meters=1.86 miles. Cheer! Cheer! Cheer! Good Sportsmanship is Essential!!!!

13 Parent Involvement All parent volunteers need to have a background check Forms are on the front page of the website

14 Parent Involvement Parents needed to arrange snacks ($5 donations collected at beginning of season to cover snack cost for entire season). Parents to promote spirit – locker decorating (use magnets only – no tape); School colors are Red & White (with Vegas Gold as an accent) Parents needed to arrange who will bring cold, wet wash cloths to meets. Parents needed to help at home meet Parents needed to help supervise team practices: Monday intervals, Tuesday Chapel Runs, Thursdays from 5:30-6:45 when we meet at the Aboite Center Rd. fire station Parents to help hand out uniforms Parents to help with time trial Parents needed at invitationals to help with timing chips
