From one part of a country to another (internal or domestic). Forced or voluntary. Permanent or temporary.

Reasons for Migration Push Factors: encourage people to leave their home area. Pull Factors: attract people into an area.

Advantages and Disadvantages, for the country losing people
Advantages: Fewer people to be fed and housed, No income sent home from foreigners, Reduces pressure on jobs and resources. Disadvantages: Loss of young, Unbalanced population structure, Loss of working age people, Loss of those most likely to have education and skills, Splitting of families, Elderly people remains, so there’s a higher death rate.

Advantages and Disadvantages, for the country gaining people
Advantages: Cheap labour, Helps overcome workforce shortages, Some immigrants are prepared to do unskilled jobs, Some immigrants are highly skilled, Cultural diversity. Disadvantages: Language problems, Racial/ethnic tension, Jobs lost to immigrants, Pressure on housing and services, Limited skills/education in immigrant population.
