Pear Class – Year 1 English Maths SPRING TWO Topic
In English this half term we will be looking at Africa and a selection of narrative stories relating to our topic. Continuing to work on using capital letters and full stops accurately. Using a wide range of adjectives to describe characters and settings. Continuing to practice letter formation, ensuring all letters are started in the correct place. Use the conjunctions ‘and’ and ‘because’ to join two clauses together. Maths In Maths lessons we will be: •Count forwards and backwards to 75 in ones and to 100 in tens. •Find one more and one less for numbers up to 75. Count, read and write numbers up to 100 in numerals. •Count forwards and backwards 2’s and 10’s. *Represent and use number bonds and related subtraction facts within 10, moving on to teen numbers. • Solve one-step problems that involve addition and subtraction using concrete objects and pictorial representations. Division through sharing equally. • Multiplication through repeated addition. Pear Class – Year 1 SPRING TWO Important Information Children should have both an indoor and outdoor P.E. kit in school at all times. Reading books and diaries need to be in school every day. Children should read at home for 5 to 10 minutes each day Homework is set on Fridays and should be returned to school no later than the following Wednesday. Topic Where would you prefer to live England or Africa? In Geography we will be: Finding out about the continent of Africa Looking at the similarities and difference between Runcorn and Africa. Comparing our way of life to people in Africa. Using maps and atlas’s. In Science we will be: Making predictions. Designing and carrying out fair tests Making observations and recording our ideas Art and Design We will be looking at the African artist Martin Bulinya. The use of primary colours and different textures when creating a piece of art. P.E. P.E. lessons are on Monday and Thursday – Please ensure that long hair is tied up and earrings are removed. .
