3 Calling all Dancers! Any individual or group interested in being involved in this year’s dance show should let Mrs Shankland or Miss McGuire know by January 20th. We will require the names of everybody in your group and the music you intend on using.

4 Modern Apprenticeships in Childcare PA Training
PA Training is involved in the recruitment, selection and training of Modern Apprentices in the childcare sector. The organization currently has vacancies in the south Edinburgh area. As a Modern Apprentice you would undertake a Scottish Vocational Qualification (SVQ) in Social Services (Children and Young People) beginning at Level 2 and working towards Levels 3 and 4. PA Training delivers a comprehensive induction to the relevant SVQ course and provides a series of training days to covering a range of topics such as positive behavior, emotional wellbeing and child protection. These are held in central Edinburgh. PA Training staff also visit students, at the nursery in which they are employed, to oversee their training and to help them complete their SVQ portfolio. Requirements. Candidates should have achieved a number of National 4 qualifications including English. Strong communication skills and the ability to be able to work as part of a team are also needed. No previous experience with children necessary, but is helpful. How to apply To apply go to to complete an on-line application form. PA Training will then contact you to arrange an initial interview. If they feel that you are a suitable candidate they will arrange an interview and trial session with a nursery. Closing date On-going recruitment, so no set closing date. 5 Edinburgh College Open Days
Edinburgh College is holding Open Days at each of its four campuses in January, to give prospective students information and advice on courses beginning in August 2017. Milton Road Campus Tuesday 17 January Granton Campus Thursday 19 January Midlothian Campus Tuesday 24 January Sighthill Campus Thursday 26 January All sessions are from 4.00pm to 6.30pm. Applications for August 2017 courses open on Monday 16 January.

6 STEM – S5 Thinking of studying Science, Technology, Engineering or Maths at university?? The Headstart programme offers students under the age of 18 the opportunity to experience life at one of the top universities in the UK. Most course last one week and take place during the summer holiday. For more information about the courses and to collect an application form please see Mr Proctor in room 127 by Friday 22nd January.

Bronze group – next training is Wed 25th January, Room 308 ALL participants (S3&S4) must attend See Mr Boyle before this session if you are unable to attend. Training sessions will be every second Wednesday after this one until further notice.

10 S4 and S5 Students If you are interested in taking part in the Summer Immersion Course in China this summer come to a meeting at lunchtime on Monday 23rd January in Room 213
