2 Interval and lunchtime in the library During the prelims (until 27 th Jan) the library should only be used for revision, study, homework and quiet reading*. *(Quietly doing the jigsaw is the only exception to the rule)

3 The programme is centred on a one-week summer school in the US with introductory events, application support and test preparation in the UK before and after. The programme includes: A week-long visit to the States where students will get a taste of US higher education and culture Four UK based residentials to receive comprehensive admissions advice Support from our dedicated team of knowledgeable advisors throughout the process of applying for admissions and financial aid at American universities In-depth admissions test preparation Guidance for parents and teachers A chance to meet other UK students interested in US study It is free to take part in the programme. 5 Borders College Open Day Galashiels campus – TODAY 2.00pm to 8.00pm This Open Day will give you information on courses beginning at Borders College in August 2016. Go to www.borderscollege.ac.uk to register for the Open Day and to see details of courses available at the college.www.borderscollege.ac.uk All applicants who apply before 15 th March 2016 will be guaranteed an interview. The College is now accessible by train from Midlothian.

6 Edinburgh College Information Days Granton Campus – TODAY from 2pm to 6pm Sighthill Campus – Thursday 21 January from 2pm to 6pm Please note the college information day dates have changed from those originally shown on the college website. Make sure you go on the right day! These Information Days will give you details of courses beginning in August 2016. Application for August 2016 courses is now open on the college website. Apply as soon as possible to ensure you are offered a place. You can apply for only one course. 11 A £10 prom deposit was due 11 th December 2015. If you wish to attend prom please get your deposit to someone on the events team or to Miss McLay before the 21 st January 2016 as this is the last day we are taking them in and you wont be able to attend prom on 10 th June 2016.

12 S2 Science Museum Trip Could all students planning on attending this trip please meet in Room 124 on Thursday (21/1/16) lunchtime to complete a short pre- visit survey. Please arrive promptly, you can bring your lunch with you!

15 Nick Sharratt Illustration Prize The competition will be judged by Nick Sharratt! (and the winner will get a great prize) Submit a single illustration, an illustrated story or your very own picture book... Hand your entries to Kat in the library by Monday 1 Feb This is an exclusive competition only for LHS students Nick writes and draws picture books, he also does all the illustrations for Jacqueline Wilson books

17 S1-2 Young Engineers The Lasswade Young Engineers Club will take place on Monday at 3:45pm until 4:45pm in room 011 in the Design Technology Corridor.
