Test and Notebook Check next Friday!

2 Study Guide Review (Page 35A-36A)
Force is a push or a pull that changes an object’s motion and takes place between interacting objects. Motion is a change in position of an object relating to time. Newton’s Third Law states: For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction between ___________. A reaction force is always _______ and _______ to the ______ force.

3 Study Guide Review (Page 35A-36A)
Force is a push or a pull that changes an object’s motion between interacting objects. Motion is a change in position of an object relating to time. Newton’s Third Law states: For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction between interacting objects. A reaction force is always equal (the same) and opposite to the action force.

4 For the reaction object to feel the same force, they must have the same _____ and _________ as the action object.

5 For the reaction object to feel the same force, they must have the same mass and acceleration as the action object.

8 Study Guide Review (Page 35A-36A)
Forces can be balanced or unbalanced. In a balanced force interaction, the object doesn’t move. In an unbalanced force interaction, the object moves. The unit of measurement for force is a Newton.

9 Question: Draw the force diagram using the book as the object and answer the following. When applying a force to the book, the applied force must be greater than which force to make the book move?

10 Question: Describe how a vehicle restraint, such as a seatbelt, shows Newton’s 3rd Law and how it helps keep you safe in a car crash.

11 Sample Answer Newton’s Third Law states that for every action, there is an equal but opposite reaction. In cars, we see Newton’s 3rd law at work in our seatbelts. If a car hit our car, there is an applied force that pushes us out of our seats. However, the seatbelt exerts an equal force on us in the opposite direction, pulling us back into our seats and keeping us safe.
