Salahaddin University College Of Engineering Water Distribution System Design Of New Zanco Layouts of Distribution Network: There are, in general, four different types of pipe networks; any one of which either singly or in combinations, can be used for a particular place. They are: Dead End System. Radial System. Grid Iron System. Ring System. Aziz` Introduction: Distribution system is used to describe collectively the facilities used to supply water from its source to the point of usage. The purpose of distribution system is to deliver water to consumer with appropriate quality, quantity and pressure. Water distribution in Erbil City: Commonly water distribution system in Erbil City is mixed system (i.e. dead end system and grid system). In the old quarters of Erbil City, mainly dead end system was applied; while in new quarters generally grid system was used and connected to the old system. Design of the area: Calculations of required quantity of water according to persons Q = 250 LPCD Number of houses = 1000 Average Number of persons in each house = 5 Max daily demand factor = 1.5 Q req /person = 250*1.5 = 450 LPCD = 5.12*10-3 LPCS Q req total = 450*5*1000 = 2.25*106 L/day = L/sec Calculations of available quantity of water in wells Assumed Q well = 50 m3/hr Number of wells available = 3 Q total = 3*50 =150 m3/hr =3600 m3/day = 0.042m3/sec Working time of wells assumed to be =18 hr 3600*18/24 = 2700 m3/day= m3/sec= 31.3 l/sec So Q well > Q req O.K Project Goals /Objectives: The objective of this project is to provide a fully design water system for the required area which is (New Zanko Village) including the cost, the type of the materials used in the design, and types of layouts by using different methods such as hand calculation, Excel and EPANET program.
