2 VERBS There are 2 types of verbs in Spanish:
regular verbs & irregular verbs

3 REGULAR VERBS Verbs that follow certain patterns are called REGULAR verbs. The endings show who is doing the action: ej.) (yo) hablo, (tú) hablas

4 IRREGULAR VERBS Verbs that do not follow certain patterns are called IRREGULAR verbs. “ir” is an IRREGULAR verb. It means “to go” in English. It is often followed by the word a: Voy al cine. (I’m going to the movies.)

5 TO GO (In English) I go You go He She goes It We go You all go They go

6 IR (To go) Yo voy Tú vas Ud. Él va Ella Nosotros vamos Vosotros vais
Uds. Ellos van Ellas

7 You must memorize the forms of “ir” because it is an irregular verb and it follows no pattern.

8 Ir + a + INFINITIVE We use a form of the verb ir + a + infinitive to tell what someone is going to do.

9 IR + a + INFINITIVE Yo voy a nadar. ¿Y tú?, ¿vas a jugar fútbol?
I’m going to swim. And you, are you going to play soccer?
