1 Get out Clinical App 15.2 for signature
Sponge: Set up Cornell Notes on pg. 89 Topic: 15.3 Pathway of the Blood through the Heart Essential Questions: No EQ  15.3 Pathway of the Blood through the Heart 2.1 Atoms, Ions, and Molecules Get out Clinical App 15.2 for signature

2 Blood flows through the heart in a specific pathway:
Oxygen-poor blood enters the right atrium from the body through the superior/inferior vena cava The blood continues into the right ventricle, which pumps blood to lungs through the R/L pulmonary arteries 1 2

3 Blood flows through the heart in a specific pathway:
3. Oxygen-rich blood from lungs travels through the four pulmonary veins into the left atrium 4. Blood continues into the left ventricle, which pumps blood out of the aorta to the rest of the body 3 4

4 Label that Heart! Use pencil No text/ internet
Using your notes from yesterday: Label all parts of the heart Draw arrows showing the direction of blood flow through the heart. 3. Write labels to show where vessels go: “To the lungs” “From the lungs” “To the body” “From the body” Use pencil No text/ internet

5 You need a red and blue writing utensil/colored pencil/crayon

6 Pathway of Blood Through the Heart
Check your work in the book on P. 568 Fix any corrections needed Color each part of the heart red or blue showing the pathway of blood through the heart Include a key: Red= Oxygen-Rich Blood Blue= Oxygen-Poor Blood

7 Blood Flow Animation Add notes (in pencil) to your blood flow heart diagram

8 Circulation

9 Pulmonary Circuit Pulmonary= LUNGS
Pulmonary circulation: consists of vessels that carry: Deoxygenated blood from the heart to the lungs Oxygenated blood back to the heart from the lungs Pulmonary= LUNGS

10 Systemic Circuit Systemic Circulation: composed of vessels that lead:
Oxygenated blood from the heart to all body parts (except the lungs) Deoxygenated blood back to the heart again from the body Includes the aorta and its branches Includes the system of veins that return blood to the right atrium
