For ALL Transactions Step 1a- determining categories Determine in which of 4 categories (A-D) your item belongs: A: Jeff-Lewis BOCES SLS schools, B: CIDER (except “ours”,) C: DueNorth using NCLS delivery, or D: DueNorth mailing. Use the Interlibrary Loan Procedures for Handling Items document.

7 For ALL Transactions Step 1b- categories defined
A: Jeff-Lewis BOCES SLS schools are the 53 schools in our system. This means both DueNorth AND CIDER transactions for those schools. B: CIDER for MO and OH BOCES SLS’s- any in CIDER that are not “our” school libraries C or D: DueNorth – any that are not “our” school libraries. Find the system and code in the NC Regional Directory, decide if the item can be put in the NCLS delivery (C) or if or if it needs to be mailed (D.) Use the NCLS Delivery Versus Mailing document for this info.

Your part is done! The item is sorted by the JL BOCES pony driver and hand delivered to the borrowing school’s office or library. BOOK

Step 2 Place pull slip inside book or other ILL item

Step 4 Place manila envelope inside your School Library System brown envelope. If too large for brown envelope, place manila envelope (with CIDER label sheet filled out) inside a larger manila envelope or an orange bag and write “J3J- School Library System” on the outside. 16 For CIDER: OH and MO BOCES SLS’ (not “our” school libraries)
Your part is done! The item is sorted by the JL BOCES pony driver and goes to the School Library System where we place it in a bin for the Madison-Oneida BOCES driver to pick up on Tuesdays and Thursdays. It will then be delivered to the borrowing school’s library. SLS Office bin BOOK

Step 2 Place slip inside book or other ILL item

Step 3 Fill out the DueNorth non-mailing bookmark The system and library code are found in the North Country Regional Directory.

Step 4 Place bookmark inside book or other item with the system and library codes showing.

Step 5 Place item inside your School Library System brown envelope. No other packaging is needed. (If too large for brown envelope, use a manila envelope or an orange bag and write “J3J- School Library System” on the outside. Place item with other JL BOCES pony mail. J3J-School Library System

22 For DueNorth: Category C - Non-mailing
Your part is done! The item is sorted by the JL BOCES pony driver and goes to the School Library System where we place it in the NCLS bin. The bin is picked up each Thursday by the NCLS van driver and is sorted at North Country Library System. Items will be delivered to the borrowing library on their next weekly delivery day. Step 3 Address a shipping label and attach it to a padded mailing envelope. *Addresses for ICICILL items that need to be mailed are found in the North Country Regional Directory. Black Watch Memorial Library 99 Montcalm Street Ticonderoga, NY

Step 4 Place book or other item in the padded manila envelope. Seal it securely with staples and packing tape.

Step 5 Mail the package through your district.

Your part is done! The item will arrive at the borrowing school’s library via the mail carrier.
