1 Squamous cell carcinoma
Squamous cell carcinoma. (A) Frontal chest x-ray demonstrates a lobulated opacity in the right upper lung zone. (B) Axial chest CT in lung windows demonstrates a lobulated and spiculated mass, suspicious for malignancy. (C) Corresponding axial PET image from a PET-CT scan demonstrates hypermetabolic FDG uptake in the same area as the mass. (D) Fused PET-CT image confirms this finding. While the focus of increased FDG uptake was easily attributed to the mass in this case even without the fusion images, they are often helpful in equivocal cases. This was squamous cell carcinoma of the lung. Source: Cardiothoracic Imaging, Introduction to Diagnostic Radiology Citation: Elsayes KM, Oldham SA.
