1 Example 7: (A,B) Diagnostic mammogram in 63-year-old woman who presented with a palpable mass in the left breast. CC and MLO views of the left breast shows a large irregular speculated mass (arrows), which is highly suspicious for malignancy. US study was obtained (C) confirming the highly suspicious features of the mass (arrows) (hypoechoic, irregular, with posterior acoustic shadowing). The study was reported as BIRADS 5 and US guided biopsy was done confirming the diagnosis of an invasive ductal carcinoma of the breast. The patient received neoadjuvant chemotherapy (to reduce the tumor size preoperatively) and a mammogram was obtained after 6 months (D,E) that showed a clip at the site of the mass (arrows), which was left at the time of the biopsy. The mass has significantly shrunken in size in response to chemotherapy and the study was reported as BIRADS 6.
