We are investing a much more in the API area to make the product more and more flexible so resellers and partners are able to add new capacities and extend the product in order on one side to match unique company business processes and needs and on the other side an opportunity for you to generate service revenue.
One of the capabilities we are looking for is to automate and enforce customer process using pre-and post event handler. This would allow developers to handle events that are triggered before and after select WebServices API calls are made. The goal of this feature is to enable Vault customizations to better control what data is placed in the Vault, and notify users and external systems immediately when events of interest occur. 
Another capability is the ability to define actions for Items and ECOs during lifecycle transition to automate customer common workflows.
And as self-evident adding the capabilities to access the new Vault features like projects capabilities.

On the server side we have the ADMS the data management server and the Web Services API.

As partner you are able to create a custom stand-alone client or custom design application add-in client to access and add data to the Server.
