1 Ancient Rome A WebQuest on Social Class and Equality
Teacher’s Page Please me with any questions! Task Process Evaluation Conclusion Introduction

2 Introduction Unlike the freedom and equality we each enjoy in life today, life in Ancient Rome was very different depending on gender, age, and the social class you were born into. Not every group of people had the privilege of being treated equally or fairly. However, each group of people had a specific duty and role in Ancient Rome. Some of the categories of people during this time period consisted of men, women, gladiators, slaves, and children. Let’s travel back in time to discover what a typical day would be like for one of these groups of people. Task Process Evaluation Conclusion

As a group, decide which group of Romans you would like to learn more about. Groups may choose between men, women, gladiators, slaves, or children. Each group must visit the WebPages dedicated to its group of Romans and answer the questions below: Identify the rights of the class of people List activities this group might have been involved in (work, leisure, a typical day, etc.) List any positive aspects of this group’s life. (What might you have enjoyed about this group if you were a part of it?) List all negative aspects of this group’s life. (What might you have disliked about being a part of this group?) Describe how other people of Rome viewed this group. (How did they treat them?) Include a drawing of a person from the group of Romans you selected. Once each group has completed a poster with the above information, each group will present its poster to the class. Students will complete a journal entry on the importance of equal treatment of all humans using the information and examples presented from our WebQuest. Process Evaluation Conclusion
