2 Tensions in the Colonies
British soldiers stationed in the colonies caused tension and concern among the colonists; violence and protests would erupt.

3 The Boston Massacre Job competition between the colonists and poorly paid soldiers caused tension The first fight broke out in Boston when colonists were taunting guards. Gun fire broke out and five colonists were killed

5 Britain's Response With continued colonial violence King Gorge would begin to bring colonists back to England to be tried In order to combat violence and protest the committees of correspondence was created

6 The Boston Tea Party Lord Frederick North passes the Tea Act which allows the British East Indian Tea company to sell tea to colonists free of taxes .

7 Boston Tea Party Merchants are angered by the Tea Act
Colonist protest by dressing as Native Americans and dumping 18,000 pounds of tea into the Boston Harbor.

9 War Begins In the middle of a cold spring food supplies are low and British morale is even lower. Minute men or civilian soldiers had been preparing in the colonies Paul Revere would warn the troops in New England, as well as Hancock and Adams of the approaching British army.

10 Lexington and Concord The first shots would be fired as troops traveled down Lexington Road approaching the town of Concord
