A Mediterranean ERANET is an opportunity to implement the recommendations of GSO/MoCo for a Euro-Mediterranean cooperation based on co-ownership and
long-term joint programming.
The Euro-Mediterranean Conference on Research and Innovation organized by the
European Commission in Barcelona on 2-3 April 2012 underlined the importance of creating a frame of renewed partnership looking into a more substantial prospect of long-term and sustainable coordination.

4. Essential Added Value of the ERANETMED Project
ERANETMED can contribute as an EU-MPC Joint Activity to the
successful development of stable Common Programming.
WP3 - Support Sustainable Research through a Long-Lasting and Stable Cooperation
Taking stock of the state of play regarding long-term and stable joint programming.
Support furthering and complementing the process and ensuring the full integration of the MPCs.
Implementing the scheme of long-term and stable Common Programming and Roadmap for the implementation of the Strategic Research (Beyond ERANETMED) to discuss and support preparation of the Strategic Research Agenda. (Means, Activities, Resources & Governance)

5. Mediterranean Science, Policy, Research & Innovation Gateway
Focused on three societal challenges: Energy, High Quality Affordable Food, and Scarcity of resources. Aims at tackling policy objectives by creating a dialogue and coordination platform of governmental institutions, research organizations, associations and civil society. - EMEG (Euro-Mediterranean Expert Group) - Enhancing Dialogue (AgoraMEDSPRING) Get involved! 6. The MERID project (Middle East Research and Innovation Dialogue) proposes a comprehensive action to intensify and encourage research and innovation cooperation between the EU and the Middle East region, directly involving partners from Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon and Palestine.
The project intends to build upon the experience carried out in countries of the region that have already participated in the previous framework programmes, and therefore are at a relatively advanced stage of research cooperation with Europe (Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon).
Attention is paid to calibrating specific needs of the target countries and their research constituencies.
The project is the first attempt to systematize support to the policy dialogue and involvement of research communities of Iran and Iraq in the H2020 programme
Seeks to give continuity to collaboration frameworks already established between the EU and Middle East Countries.
It focuses on enhancing direct cooperation among researchers and on laying or consolidating preconditions, in the region, fostering joint research projects and initiatives with the EU, establishing optimal framework conditions for international cooperation and increasing coordination between policies and programmes through different on-line and in-person activities, among which are meetings of researchers, brokerage events, info-days, training and coaching, webinars and other tools…
