7. Homework
Starting next week we will have weekly homework on your child’s communication log. Homework is OPTIONAL, however it will greatly assist your child’s success in the classroom.
Sight words- Practice reading words. Your child needs to be able to read all words accurately in any order in 1 minute 15 seconds. All students will be tested at the end of the quarter.
Math Facts – Bubble Gum Fluency program. There are 14 levels of mixed addition & subtractions facts to 10.
Reading- Spend time reading to your child, with your child, and listening to your child read. We recommend minutes of reading every night.
Spelling - Spelling will begin in October. Spelling words come home on Mondays. There are 8 spelling words that follow a common spelling pattern. Test is on Friday.

9. Classroom Management
Our goal is to help children be safe, to learn, and feel successful in the classroom.
At times, a student may be asked to go to a “safe spot” or a “work spot” so that he/she can meet these goals.
Sitting in the safe seat is not a punishment. It is a tool for teaching and protecting kids.
