2 Great Is Our God! Psalm 145:1-3

3 Psalm 145:1-3 “I will extol You, my God, O King; And I will bless Your name forever and ever. Every day I will bless You, And I will praise Your name forever and ever. Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised; And His greatness is unsearchable.

4 Great Is Our God! In Nature

5 Great In Nature 1) He is eternal.
“Before the mountains were brought forth, Or ever You had formed the earth and the world, Even from everlasting to everlasting, You are God” (Psalm 90:2). Adam Clark says, “This is the highest description of the eternity of God to which human language can reach.” “Then Abraham planted a tamarisk tree in Beersheba, and there called on the name of the LORD, the Everlasting God” (Genesis 21:33).

6 Great In Nature 2) He is omnipotent.
“Is anything too hard for the LORD? At the appointed time I will return to you, according to the time of life, and Sarah shall have a son” (Genesis 18:14). “‘Ah, Lord GOD! Behold, You have made the heavens and the earth by Your great power and outstretched arm. There is nothing too hard for You” (Jeremiah 32:17).

7 Great In Nature 3) He is omniscience.
“Remember the former things of old, For I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like Me, Declaring the end from the beginning, And from ancient times things that are not yet done, Saying, ‘My counsel shall stand, And I will do all My pleasure’” (Isaiah 46:9-10). “For if our heart condemns us, God is greater than our heart, and knows all things” (1 John 3:20).

8 Great In Nature 4) He is omnipresent.
“Am I a God near at hand,” says the LORD, “And not a God afar off? Can anyone hide himself in secret places, So I shall not see him?” says the LORD; “Do I not fill heaven and earth?” says the LORD” (Jeremiah 23:23-24). “Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence? If I ascend into heaven, You are there; If I make my bed in hell, behold, You are there” (Psalm 139:7-8).

9 Great Is Our God! In Nature In Character

10 Great In Character 1) He cannot do evil.
“Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am tempted by God”; for God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He Himself tempt anyone” (James1:13).

11 Great In Character 2) He cannot lie.
“Thus God, determining to show more abundantly to the heirs of promise the immutability of His counsel, confirmed it by an oath, that by two immutable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we might have strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold of the hope set before us” (Hebrews 6:17-18).

12 Great In Character 3) He cannot be unfaithful.
“This is a faithful saying: For if we died with Him, We shall also live with Him. If we endure, We shall also reign with Him. If we deny Him, He also will deny us. If we are faithless, He remains faithful; He cannot deny Himself” (2 Timothy 2:11-13).

13 Great In Character 4) He is holy.
“but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, because it is written, “Be holy, for I am holy” (1 Peter 1:15-16). Holy – “in a moral sense, pure, sinless, upright, holy; of God pre-eminently” (Thayer, p. 7). Vine, speaking of God, says, “as the absolutely Holy One, in His purity, majesty and glory” (p. 566).

14 Great In Character 5) He is just.
“Tell and bring forth your case; Yes, let them take counsel together. Who has declared this from ancient time? Who has told it from that time? Have not I, the LORD? And there is no other God besides Me, A just God and a Savior; There is none besides Me” (Isaiah 45:21). Just – “It is also often applied to God, who is the ultimate standard used to define justice and righteousness” (Complete Word Study Dictionary).

15 Great In Character 6) He is love.
“He who does not love does not know God, for God is love” (1 John 4:8).

16 Great In Character 7) He is perfect.
“Therefore you shall be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect” (Matthew 5:48). Perfect – “God’s perfection is absolute; man’s is relative” (Complete Word Study Dictionary).

17 Great Is Our God! In Nature In Character In Deeds

18 Great In Deeds 1) Made us in His image.
“Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them” (Genesis 1:26-27).

19 Great In Deeds 2) Our salvation.
“Oh, sing to the LORD a new song! Sing to the LORD, all the earth. Sing to the LORD, bless His name; Proclaim the good news of His salvation from day to day. Declare His glory among the nations, His wonders among all peoples. For the LORD is great and greatly to be praised; He is to be feared above all gods. For all the gods of the peoples are idols, But the LORD made the heavens. Honor and majesty are before Him; Strength and beauty are in His sanctuary” (Psalm 96:1-6).

20 Great In Deeds 3) Providential love & care.
“Then his brothers also went and fell down before his face, and they said, “Behold, we are your servants.” Joseph said to them, “Do not be afraid, for am I in the place of God? But as for you, you meant evil against me; but God meant it for good, in order to bring it about as it is this day, to save many people alive. Now therefore, do not be afraid; I will provide for you and your little ones.” And he comforted them and spoke kindly to them” (Genesis 50:18-21).

21 Great In Deeds 4) Elihu to Job.
“God thunders marvelously with His voice; He does great things which we cannot comprehend… Listen to this, O Job; Stand still and consider the wondrous works of God” (Job 37:5, 14).

23 Psalm 95:1-6 “Oh come, let us sing to the LORD! Let us shout joyfully to the Rock of our salvation. Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving; Let us shout joyfully to Him with Psalms. For the LORD is the great God, And the great King above all gods. In His hand are the deep places of the earth; The heights of the hills are His also. The sea is His, for He made it; And His hands formed the dry land. Oh come, let us worship and bow down; Let us kneel before the LORD our Maker.”
