El Sheddai = “God Almighty”: The Lord said to Abraham, “Is anything too difficult for the Lord” (Gen 18.14)

3 God is Omnipotent (All-powerful)
El Sheddai = “God Almighty”: Job: “I know that you can do all things, and no purpose of yours can be thwarted” (Job 42.2)

El Sheddai = “God Almighty”: Jeremiah: “Nothing is too difficult for the Lord who made the heavens and the earth by his great power” (Jer 32.17,27)

Some things God cannot do: Go against his nature: 2 Tim 2:13 “If we are faithless, He remains faithful, for He cannot deny Himself.”

What God’s omnipotence does mean: He can do what he wills to do: Ps 135:6 “Whatever the LORD pleases, He does, In heaven and in earth, in the seas and in all deeps.”

What this means for us: God can handle your troubles – 1 Pet 5.7 God can do what he promises: Rom 4:21 “and being fully assured that what God had promised, He was able also to perform.”

El Roi – The God Who Sees (Gen 16) Ps 139:1-6 “O LORD, You have searched me and known me. You know when I sit down and when I rise up; You understand my thought from afar. You scrutinize my path and my lying down, And are intimately acquainted with all my ways. Even before there is a word on my tongue, Behold, O LORD, You know it all. You have enclosed me behind and before, And laid Your hand upon me. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; It is too high, I cannot attain to it.”

El Roi – The God Who Sees Knows the past, present, and future: Isa 46:9-10 “Remember the former things long past, For I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is no one like Me, Declaring the end from the beginning, And from ancient times things which have not been done, Saying, ‘My purpose will be established, And I will accomplish all My good pleasure’”

El Roi – The God Who Sees Knows the past, present, and future Knows your heart: 1 Chron 28:9 “As for you, my son Solomon, know the God of your father, and serve Him with a whole heart and a willing mind; for the LORD searches all hearts, and understands every intent of the thoughts. If you seek Him, He will let you find Him; but if you forsake Him, He will reject you forever.”

You cannot hide your sins from him Ps 94:7-9 “They have said, ‘The LORD does not see, Nor does the God of Jacob pay heed.’ Pay heed, you senseless among the people; And when will you understand, stupid ones? He who planted the ear, does He not hear? He who formed the eye, does He not see?”

26 God is Omnipresent (Ever-present)
El Olam – God Everlasting Psa 139:7-12 “Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence? If I ascend to heaven, You are there; If I make my bed in Sheol, behold, You are there. If I take the wings of the dawn, If I dwell in the remotest part of the sea, Even there Your hand will lead me, And Your right hand will lay hold of me. If I say, "Surely the darkness will overwhelm me, And the light around me will be night," Even the darkness is not dark to You, And the night is as bright as the day. Darkness and light are alike to You.”

What it means to us: You cannot run away or hide from God Comforting -- Ps 139 Or, Fearful -- Jer

What it means to us: Worship of him is not confined to one place and time – Jn 4.21 Jn 4.21,23 “Jesus said to her, ‘Woman, believe Me, an hour is coming when neither in this mountain nor in Jerusalem will you worship the Father…but true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth.’”

What it means to us: We are never alone: Psalms 46:1 “God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble.”
