4 EMS Materials Expectation:
Before 1st period: Pick up materials for 1st & 2nd only Drop off materials for 3rd- 6th Before 3rd period: Drop off materials for 1st & 2nd Pick up materials for 3rd & 4th & lunch Before 5th period: Drop off materials for 3rd & 4th & lunch Pick up materials for 5th & 6th Before going home: Pick up all materials needed for homework If you have a locker, you must stop at your locker at these times in order to bring only the necessary materials to each class:

Leave textbooks at home Only bring necessary items Want a locker? Sign up on Ms. Nilsen’s desk 8th graders:

6 Do you need to bring all your materials to each class?
No, you should only have materials for two periods with you at any time. By bringing only the necessary materials, you will: Save your back! Less weight means your backpack is easier to carry. EMS student backpacks weigh up to 24 pounds! Save time! Less materials means that you spend less time looking for what you need. Save space! Materials can take up a lot of space in the classroom, making it difficult to move around.

7 What materials do I need for each class?
Math: Math binder Calculator Agenda Pencil Charged laptop Total weight: __5.5 lbs.__ Science: Science journal Agenda Pencil Charged laptop Total weight: ___6 lbs.__

8 What materials do I need for each class?
LA/English: Binder Agenda Pencil Independent reading book Charged laptop Total weight: __7.5 lbs.__ SS/History: Binder Agenda Pencil Charged laptop Total weight: __7 lbs.__

9 What don’t I need in my classes?
Textbooks: All textbooks are available online or in class. Colored pencils/Highlighters/Markers: If you need these items for class, your teacher will let you know ahead of time. Extra paper: You only need a small amount of paper with you each day.

10 But I don’t have time to stop at my locker!
Yes, you do! It takes about 3 minutes to go from one end of the school to the other, with a locker stop. Passing periods are 5 minutes long.

11 Activity: With your map and schedule, make an X where your locker is.
Mark where your 1st, 3rd, 5th, and 6th periods are. Your locker should be near your 2nd period class. Highlight your route between these classes with a locker stop.
