13 How has Cardiff changed?
Previous land use: Cardiff Bay is between the rivers Ely and Rhymney. It covers an area once docklands. The docks were originally built to import iron ore. More docks were built between 1839 and 1907, mainly for the export of coal. By the 1960s, Cardiff's docklands were no longer used because coal mining was not popular. Today: Cardiff is becoming popular with tourists and visitors because they have built a lake and waterfront.
