Moodle for all: next phase of Moodle Moodle Upgrade Moodle Rollover Module Evaluation
3
Lecture Capture Policy and Upgrade
Policy refreshed and published 1st February 2017 Lecture recordings are useful to students and should be provided unless there is good reason not to The university provides a supported and access-controlled solution to enable this to happen Software upgrade in July 2017 More robust and scaleable solution, tightly integrated with Moodle Added functionality “Active Learning Platform“ to be explored during 17/18

Moodle for All Students benefit from a consistent approach to materials in the modules they are registered for The University is setting the direction of travel: all modules should have a Moodle space and departments should make effective use of Moodle We will automatically create spaces for all live running modules in AY 2017/18 This will include integration with lecture capture (echo), reading lists (Talis Aspire) and hopefully course extracts too
5
Moodle Upgrade Upgrade to version 3.2 in July, exact date TBC
What it means to you: Fresh look and feel Moodle spaces for every module Improved integrations: some of the “blocks” will look different Simplified access to module content across the university's services Improvements to authoring functionality New improved homepage

Moodle “Rollover” Annual Rollover starts soon: preparing course spaces for 2017/18 What it means to you: Departmental Moodle coordinators will be making decisions on behalf of departments Where there isn’t a coordinator, module leaders will decide List of Moodle Coordinators: LIST Timescale for decisions will be released soon New for AY 17/18: addition of course spaces for every module running in 17/18, and also retrospective spaces for previous year modules containing lecture recordings
7
Module Evaluation Scanning service for module evaluations will become charged for again in 17/18: departments to be contacted soon Pay for paper scanning service Go paperless ask students to complete the survey in the room online and/or send reminders and/or make other content access contingent on completing feedback and most important: show that you’re acting on feedback Paperless options Moodle questionnaire can be anonymous Responseware polling can get rapid in-session feedback

Webinars As many of you will be aware we have been running Blackboard Collaborate as a pilot service for the last 18 months, funded by the Monash Warwick Alliance. Unfortunately, despite extensive discussions both within the University and with Blackboard we have been unable to come to an agreement to allow the service to continue. The Blackboard Collaborate Ultra service will therefore become unavailable with effect from 19th April 2017 This change will not affect the Collaborate services offered via WBS, SMLC or CPE which are covered under a separate, longer term, license agreement. You should now make alternative arrangements for any planned activities and events. The current suggestion from IT Services is that you should use Skype for Business for real-time collaborative activities. Please refer to the Frequently Asked Questions page for further information and support. This includes a Feedback Form for any comments and concerns you may have which will be reviewed and collated
