The state of lecture capture at UMKC  Tegrity in use since 2008  Nearly 3,000 courses  Over 10,000 recordings  Committee to evaluate new lecture capture system looked at four products: Echo 360, Kaltura, Panopto, and Tegrity  Criteria for evaluation included price, feature set, and customer support, among others

Our choice…

Why did UMKC choose Panopto?  Robust feature set, including  Drop box feature allows students to submit recordings  Recordings can be edited after they are complete  On-the-fly switching of video sources  Compatible with many formats – can be used on Windows, Mac, mobile devices and with a wide variety of cameras and microphones  Integration with UMKC’s LMS platforms – Blackboard and Moodle

The Pilot Phase Over the next six months we will prepare our environment to phase out Tegrity and begin using Panopto. Our current plan:  Target date for Tegrity end-of-life: June 30 th, 2016  Both Tegrity and Panopto will be available for spring 2016 semester  Older Tegrity content (prior to July 1 st, 2015) will be converted in the next two months  Tegrity content created after March 31 st, 2016 will not be imported into Panopto  All remaining content created prior to March 31 st, 2016 expected to be imported prior to Tegrity end-of-life date

Next Steps There is still much to do! In the next six months, we will…  Deploy Panopto to all UMKC classroom computers  Complete configuration of Panopto in LMS environments  Develop end-user documentation for instructors and students  Develop internal support documentation for support staff  Develop and conduct training sessions for instructors  Communicate, communicate, communicate!
