6 Flexor Digitorum Longus (C)
Location - Proximal attachment: middle third of posterior tibia - Distal attachment: distal phalanx of four lesser toes Primary action - Plantar flexion, inversion, and toe flexion Utilization in weight room 1) Seated calf raises 2) Towel grab with toes and inversion Utilization in activities 1) Stairs 2) Barefoot running and walking Stand with one leg in front of the other close to a wall.   Place your hands on the wall for balance.   Bend both knees, focusing on the back knee.   Move your weight forwards onto your toes but make sure you keep the heel down at the back.   Hold for between 10 and 30 seconds.

Location - Proximal attachment: lateral condyle of tibia, head of fibula, and upper two thirds of anterior fibula - Distal attachment: second and third phalanges of four lesser toes Primary action - Toe extension, dorsiflexion, and eversion Utilization in weight room 1) Towel bunches 2) Foot inversion Utilization in activities 1) Walking up stairs 2) Barefoot walking and running on grass

13 Extensor Hallucis Longus
Location - Proximal attachment: middle two thirds of medial anterior fibula - Distal attachment: dorsal surface of distal phalanx of great toe Primary action - Dorsiflexion, inversion, and hallux extension Utilization in weight room 1) Toe raises 2) Resistance band with partner Utilization in activities 1) Walking up stairs it pulls the big toe up to clear the step 2) Climbing up a ladder
