After the failure at Roanoke in 1585, the idea to settle in North America didn’t resurface again until 1606.

7. Several merchants pressed King James for a charter Charter: A document that granting the recipient the right to settle a colony.

8. With a goal of American Colonies renewed the Virginia Company was formed. The Virginia Company was a Joint-Stock Company. Joint Stock Company- A company in which investors buy stock in return for a share of its future profits. The plan was for the company’s settlers to find gold and establish trade in fish and furs.
