1 Basketball

2 History of Basketball Basketball was invented in Springfield, MA in 1891 by James Naismith. When James first invented the game he used a soccer ball and a peach basket as the hoop to create the sport. In 1893, he replaced the peach basket with iron hoops and a hammock-style basket. Eventually the net was made with a hole in it so you no longer had to retrieve the ball.
