2 IELTS Speaking Test | A goal you hope to achieve.
My goal at the moment is to gain admission to a University in London. It is something which is very important to me because it will literally change my life forever. First of all, I’ve been planning and working towards this goal for the last couple of years. I have been trying to build up my CV since I was 13. For example, since I have a strong interest in healthcare, I have been volunteering at a local hospital on the weekends. In addition, I tutor students in my High School in Biology. As a result, my teachers are willing to write me strong letters of recommendation which will help me gain admission to a top University. Second of all, my dream is to volunteer with Operation Smile before I graduate from High School next year. Operation Smile is a non-profit international medical organization which provides free surgeries for children with cleft palates and cleft lips all over the world. My friend went on an international mission last summer and said it was the experience of a lifetime. Finally, completing the IELTS test is one of the requirements as part of the College application process. Therefore, it is essential I get a good overall score in the test. Hence, I am studying for this exam almost everyday after-school. Furthermore, I have signed up for an IELTS test preparation course starting this weekend. In conclusion, I am now dedicating my time and energy towards achieving these goals. Becoming a volunteer with Operation Smile, and then a student in the UK, are experiences which will help me mature quickly and become forward thinking. I realize the challenges ahead. Nevertheless, the fire burns in me to fulfill my dreams and become a college student at City University London by Fall 2017.

3 Some people believe that studying abroad is important because it expands a person's knowledge and understanding of the world. Others feel that it is better to study in a student's home country. Discuss both these views and give your opinion. Give reasons for your answer, and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience. Write at least 250 words. Some students like to spend time studying in a foreign country so they may learn more about the world. Others prefer to complete all their studies in their own country so they will be ready for a career there. In my opinion, studying abroad can contribute a lot to anyone's education, and it may even help students be better prepared for any career they choose. On the one hand, students who choose to study in their home country are concerned about being prepared for a professional career there. For example, they may feel that spending a semester or a year abroad will distract them from their studies. Hence, they believe the education and training they receive in their own country is the best preparation for future local careers. On the other hand, students who choose to study abroad are interested in learning more about the world. Studying abroad gives them the opportunity to gain knowledge beyond what they learn in the classroom. Moreover, by spending time in a foreign country, they learn about other ways of thinking and living. As a result, they learn to get along with different kinds of people and to appreciate different ways of doing things. In my point of view, I agree that students want to be well prepared for their future careers. However, I do not believe that a classroom is the only place to receive such preparation. Nowadays, we have have a global economy, therefore, it is important to understand how things are done in other countries Quite frankly, the best way to learn about a new country is by spending time in a new country. In addition, studying and making friends there helps open a student's mind to new ideas. This experience not only provides students valuable social skills, but any internships or volunteer experiences abroad also provides them with teamwork skills they will use in their professional life. Overall, studying abroad is critical in today's modern society. Even though students may certainly learn much both inside and outside the classroom, this concept is especially true if that classroom is in a foreign country.
