1 2183-261 MECHAINICAL ENGINEERING LABORATORY Air Conditioning Process
Prof. Somsak Chaiyapinunt, Ph.D. Revised July 26th, 2016.

2 1. Introduction Air conditioning process is the process that changing the properties of air (typically temperature and humidity) to a more comfortable condition. Air conditioning system of Automotive

3 1. Introduction Air conditioning process is the process that changing the properties of air (typically temperature and humidity) to a more comfortable condition. Air conditioning system of room

4 1. Introduction Air conditioning process is the process that changing the properties of air (typically temperature and humidity) to a more comfortable condition. Heater

5 1. Introduction Air conditioning process is the process that changing the properties of air (typically temperature and humidity) to a more comfortable condition. Humidifier

6 1.2 Motivation The understand of the performance of the air conditioning process becomes essential to the design engineers The air is the primary fluid in the study. The air is consisted of dry air and water vapor.

7 1.3 objective To do the performance test on each of the air conditioning process (heating, steam humidifying, cooling with dehumidifying and adiabatic mixing of air stream).

8 1.4 Methodology Performance for each components:
Usually can be evaluated from the capability of each component. i.e. Efficiency (power out/power in), etc.

9 1.4 Methodology To be able to determine the component’s performance, one need to measure the air properties (entering and leaving the component). Use the air properties along with the thermodynamic relations, one can determine the performance of each component.

10 1.4 Methodology Measured data air dry bulb temperature
air wet bulb temperature power input, (volt and ampere) condensate mass flow rate, etc.

11 1.4 Methodology What kind of instruments used for getting the required data? How accurate the data? How to convert the measured data to the desired results?
