1 How to set up your Interactive Notebook
A step-by-step guide

2 Purpose The purpose of an Interactive Notebook is to have a single place for your class notes, study materials, and references. Think of it as a “One Stop Shop” for everything you might need for our community. You could say that achievement is kind of...NOTEworthy.

3 Basic Rules Do not write in marker. It will bleed through the pages.
These are for notes and classwork, not to be used as doodle pages. Write the subject, your name, school year, Social Studies teacher, and Core on the front inside cover in pen. Write the page number in the upper corner of each page.

5 Page 1: Intro For this page, write “[[Your name]]’s Interactive Notebook.” This must be written in large, clear writing. Then you may decorate this page.

7 Page 2-4: Table of Contents
At the top of page 2, write “Table of Contents.” On the first line below the “Table of Contents” and to the left of the red line write “pg. #” or “page #.” On that same line, to the right of the red line, write “Notes/Topic/Assignment.” Repeat these steps for pages 3 and 4.

9 Page 5: Location and Place Notes and Double Bubble map
Divide the page in half by drawing a line across it. On the top half, write your notes from the “Seven Ancient Wonders of the World” clip. Categorize them into “Location” and “Place” columns. Below the line you drew, at the top of the bottom half of the page, write “Location and Place Double Bubble Map” (DBM) Draw a DBM for Location and Place.

12 Page 6: H/E Interaction and movement Notes and Double Bubble map
Divide the page in half by drawing a line across it. On the top half, create a “H/E Int.” column and “Movement” column. Write at least three examples for each column. Below the line you drew, at the top of the bottom half of the page, write “H/E Int. and Movement Double Bubble Map” (DBM) Draw a DBM for H/E Interaction and Movement. Write at least three unique characteristics for each and three similarities.

To create the Foldable, see the “Five Themes Foldable” Instructions on the NOTES tab of our blog. Once you’ve created and filled out the foldable, glue it on page 7.
