This challenge is open to those aged 14 – 19 only Entries need to be students own work

6 Food Provenance is… Knowing where and how food is produced How much do we know about the origins of the food we eat every day? Why should we care? Here are some examples, think about which options you would prefer to buy into…

11 Farm to Fork So what’s YOUR Challenge?
We want YOU to tell us more about your favourite food! We’re going to guide you through a simple 5 task process. Once you’ve completed your individual project you’ll be able to submit your entry into the fantastic Farm to Fork challenge!

13 Task 1 What is your favourite food? Pick one raw ingredient it features. Do some research into the journey it makes from farm to fork… How is it grown or farmed? Try to find at least 3 different methods or practices used. Where is it produced? Try to find some global statistics. How/where is it packaged? Where is it sold? Tip You don’t have to find all of these, but try to find out as much information as possible!

14 Aim to find around 3 problems
Task 2 Did you find any problems with the journey your chosen food makes? Reference your research and use these questions to help you… Is it safe, sustainable, ethical, organic, high-welfare? Could it be farmed, packaged or produced in a different way? Have modern farming practices created more problems? Tip Aim to find around 3 problems

15 Task 3 A consumer group has asked you to raise awareness of your chosen raw ingredient; what do you want to say? Think about what messages your campaign will carry. Based on this information, give your campaign a NAME. It has to generate interest; will your name be catchy, exciting or intriguing? Tip Make a shortlist of ideas and ask your classmates for their advice on which you should pick.

16 Tip Task 4 Taking your campaign to the public
How do you wish to present your campaign? Write a speech Create a video Storyboard an infomercial Design a poster Construct a PowerPoint Presentation Compose a song Be as creative as you like! Tip Think about how much time do you have for this task and consider your available resources!

17 Choose your content carefully…
Task 4 Continued What information should I include? Choose your content carefully… Explain the journey your chosen food makes from Farm to Fork. What problems did you identify? How can these problems be solved in future production? What advice can you offer the public when purchasing your food? Make the public care about the provenance of your food! Tip In delivering your campaign, think about language and presentation as well as relevant information!
