1 Standard assessed on finals: I can speak, and write in Spanish on a variety of topics.
The rubric below is used to assess student language proficiency with an estimated grade equivalent to each proficiency level. A Exceeds Standard Sentences and sentence fragments (missing few pieces) related to the multiple topics studied in class and other topics the student is familiar with. Use of some flavor or expression words/phrases. Some connector, transition and frequency words. Teacher and classmates can usually understand. Creates with the language 50% of the time. B Meets Lists of words, simple phrases or memorized material related to the multiple topics studied in class. Some use of phrases/sentences related to the topic AND/OR task with few inconsistencies and meaning is generally understood. Can ask and answer some practiced questions. Teacher and classmates understand most of what you say. C Approaching Lists of words (3-4), simple phrases or memorized material related to the multiple topics studied in class. Some use of phrases/sentences related to the topic AND/OR task but inconsistencies impede understanding sometimes. Can understand and answer some common questions with memorized material. Teacher and classmates understand much of what you say. D Below Few (1-2) words related to some/few of the topics covered in class You can list, name and identify a few things. Can answer a few (1-2) questions. Teacher and classmates can understand some of what you say. No real use of phrases.

I can identify the colors in Spanish and state my favorite color. I know the days of the week and months in Spanish. I can say the time and date in Spanish. I can talk about how I am doing. I can physically describe myself and others. I can describe the personality of myself and others. I can say what activities I like/dislike doing. (activities others like/dislike) I can say WHEN I like/dislike doing activities. (when others like/dislike and WHY) I can say what THINGS I like/dislike and WHY. (what things others like/dislike and WHY) I can use –AR verbs in sentences to say what activities I do/don’t do. (activities others do/don’t do) Ejemplo: Yo canto en la mañana/ Yo nado en el verano. / mi mama nunca nada. I can say what classes I have and when I have them. 16. 5 Verbal final is an all about me presentation with one visual component chosen from the 3 options below The visual component of the verbal final exam is worth 10 points and must include the writing for each topic. This is practice for the written final.

6 The following rubric will be used to assess the VERBAL piece of the verbal final.

Understand and answer some common questions with memorized material. 4 READS ALL OF PRESENTATION Few (1-2) words related to some/few of the topics covered in class You can list, name and identify a few things. Can answer a few (1-2) questions. No real use of phrases. Presentations start JUNE 7

8 For the written final: Completion of the Verbal Final with the visual component is ample preparation for the written final. In addition, it is recommended that students use the standard page to review notes related to each standard, and practice writing about each standard in their notebook or on a separate sheet of paper. For example: Standard: I can greet and say goodbye to someone. Sample practice: Make a list of greetings and goodbyes you know by memory
