3 Satellite TV Television channels send programme signals to an uplink satellite dish which is pointed at a specific satellite. The transponder in the satellite sends the signal back to earth to the receiving dish which usually of an individual household. LNB in the receiving dish amplifies the signal to the receiver box. As the signals are scrambled or encrypted, the receiver box needs a viewing card to decrypt the signals, then they are converted into a form that creates the television pictures.

5 Terrestrial TV TV channels use a powerful antena at a broadcast centre to transmit the programme signal to transmitters where audio and video are combined into one signal which is transmitted to the aerials of individual houses, then to televisions that have inbuilt receivers to convert the signal into picture and audio.
