4 Previous information LSC - 27th May IEFC – 3rd June
10 weeks for the de-cabling in 2 shifts 2.5 weeks for the LIU mandatory cabling activities in 2 shifts (priority 1) Actions to be performed to accommodate this timeline: Analysis and actions taken by EN-EL to include part of the End of the Year Holiday period and Saturdays to the work contract (implying extra costs, additional manpower (4 persons in total including SPS de-cabling and LIU cabling) and support from CERN groups) Analysis by BE-OP (Bettina Mikulec) of the Hardware commissioning period and agreement to shorten the hardware tests by one week (with identification of the risks and mitigations) IEFC – 3rd June Above analyses performed. Agreement on the PSB schedule between EN-EL, BE-OP, and checked by EN-ACE for co-activities Request to anticipate some work for EN-EL before the EYETS (approved at IEFC 3rd June) – alleviating some of the schedule and co-activity risks 29-Jul-2016 Update on the Critical Path of the PS Booster Schedule for the EYETS Julie Coupard EN-ACE

6 Current updated schedule
LMC – 29th June CMS requested a shutdown of 20 weeks rather than the originally scheduled 19 weeks for the pixel installation and other necessary repair and maintenance activities (approved at LMC 29th June) Baseline of the EYETS schedule updated by adding 1 week of work for the PSB, PS, SPS and LHC machine (including the Experimental Areas) EDMS ATS-PM-MS-0001 “Length of the YETS / EYETS / YETS ” version 2.2 Under Approval Efforts from EN-EL to include cabling request (priority 2) ~80% Courtesy David Hay IN WORK 29-Jul-2016 Update on the Critical Path of the PS Booster Schedule for the EYETS Julie Coupard EN-ACE

7 Current updated schedule
Work in progress to prepare the EYETS of the PSB De-cabling Project LIU Project (i.e. new beam instrumentations, anticipation of LS2 works) Consolidation Program Groups requests (i.e. repair of the BHZ151 vacuum pipes) Safety aspects (i.e. Stabilization of the false-floor, Electrical Locking-out) IN WORK IN WORK IN WORK Courtesy David Hay 29-Jul-2016 Update on the Critical Path of the PS Booster Schedule for the EYETS Julie Coupard EN-ACE

8 Stabilization of the false-floor
The stabilization of the false-floor is under discussion through the De-cabling Project working group between EN-ACE, EN-EL, HSE-SEE, SMB-SE. 4 solutions have been defined, depending on the rack situation: Supports under the rack in the false-floor Supports above the rack Supports on the cables trays over the rack Keep the slabs of the false-floor The supports solutions will be validated during the Injectors TS3 in September 2016. 1 week is foreseen in the EYETS schedule for the stabilization. 15-Apr-2016 LIU Project activities for the EYETS Julie Coupard EN-ACE

11 Efforts to gain weeks EN-EL Machine operation
+ contractors & support groups Machine operation Test AUG Shrink part of HW test Work on Xmas break & Saturdays 2016 2017 Aim: 12.5 weeks for PSB Main issues to be solved: EN-EL: Additional manpower for supervision needed (+ 1 person) NB: supervision during regular days still to be covered Contractors: additional manpower with B1/H1 habilitation (French law: 35 hours) Support groups: RP, Transport, Fire brigade; CSA (SMB-DI); EN-ACE (t.b.c.) Budget: cost increase (est. +10% for EN-EL contractor + other support groups) Work in 3 shifts: All the red bullets explode We have lack not only of supervisory staff but also of CORE staff (impossible to carry on for EN-EL) Support group and logistics over night (22h00-6h00) much more complicated (support groups also lack of manpower to follow) Budget: cost increase for services +70% due to work over night The efficiency during 3rd shift will be lower that 100% (70% espected) due to the “handing over” from different team between one shift and another (time spent at the end of the 1st shift and beginning of the second, loss of information among workers, etc.) To note: - The cabling review 2015 (L. Rossi) had requested more resources to be allocated to reinforce the cabling core staff. Those were never allocated. 27 May 2016 D. Ricci, G. Georgiev – De-Cabling Strategy, LS2-Comm.

12 EYETS 2016/17 – BE-OP Proposal
Reduce the HW test period from 4 weeks to 3 weeks Risks: Damage of operational cables during cable removal (higher risk than only disconnecting cables; affected systems cannot be known) Potential delays in start date of beam commissioning Mitigation: Careful supervision during decabling+cabling campaign Thorough preparation of HW test period by BE-OP No risky EYETS interventions (HW + SW!) unless absolutely needed Equipment groups have to respect installation schedule and guarantee SW readiness well ahead of the start of the HW commissioning period IEFC 03/06/2016

13 PSB - Renovation ERD switchboards
To be done before EYETS No co-activity possible with de-cabling Advantage - Removal of all old electrical distribution components (cables, final power supplies) from false floor during the de-cabling campaign ERD switchb. power OFF in PSB (B361) Removal of ERD 16, 17,18 & associated cabling from BCER TS3 Proton-Ion run EYETS 31st Aug New Supports & Switchboards 14th Nov - 12th Dec Cabling busbars to new switchb. Power ON for new infrastructure 20th March 2017 Consequences if not done before EYETS16-17: The Switchboard renovation will be moved to YETS17-18  less time for new cable pulling for LIU The obsolete cabling and busbars will remain in the false floor  less space for new cables for LIU Obsolete switchboard ERD 16, 17, 18 remain in service with no spares 03 June 2016 D. Ricci, G. Georgiev - Advancing de-cabling works - IEFC

14 Risks and mitigations Pulling cables on the overhead
14th Nov - 12th Dec Cabling busbars to new switchb. Proton-Ion run 31st Aug New Supports & Switchboards TS3 Pulling cables on the overhead cable trays  some risk of physical contact with racks: Use of adapted procedures Organise for additional CERN supervision Work under the false floor during TS3 No cables present in the concerned zone A few cables at the extremities will be protected 03 June 2016 D.
