2. You can download eBooks for offline reading by clicking ‘Download (Offline)’. This allows you to check out eBooks for a certain period of time.

3. To be able to check out eBooks, a personal account is required
To be able to check out eBooks, a personal account is required. If you haven’t already signed in, once you click ‘Download (Offline)’, you will be prompted to a pop-up with links ‘Sign In to My EBSCOhost’ and ‘Create a new Account’. Please click the option that is suitable for you. Here, we’ll be proceeding with ‘Create a new Account’ link assuming that we haven’t had any personal account before. Please note that My EBSCOhost account is free of charge.

4. After entering necessary information, click ‘Save Changes’ button.

5. Click ‘Continue’ once your account has been created.

6. You will be directed to ‘Download This eBook (Offline)’ screen which allows you to choose check out period and download eBook. Before clicking ‘Checkout & Download’, please make sure that you have one of the softwares mentioned in below grey box under ‘Viewing Requirements’. In this tutorial, we will be working with Adobe Digital Editions. For once, you can use link for desktop to download Adobe Digital Editions to your computer.

7. Click ‘Download’ tab after choosing your region.

8. Choose one of the links matching your operating system and click ‘Next’ to start downloading ‘Adobe Digital Editions’.

9. You will see set-up progress after clicking ‘Install’.

10. Click ‘Close’ once set-up has been completed.

11. Adobe Digital Editions will be opened
Adobe Digital Editions will be opened. Now, you can go back to eBook downloading page.

12. Choose as many days you want and click ‘Checkout & Download’ button.

13. You will be displayed that eBook checkout was successful
You will be displayed that eBook checkout was successful. An acsm file will be downloaded to your computer. Where the file will be saved may depend on your browser settings. It’s named as ‘URLLink.acsm’. Open the downloaded file with Adobe Digital Editions by simply clicking on it.

14. Final step before checking out your eBook is to ‘Authorize’ your computer for Adobe Digital Editions. For authorization, there are two possible options: authorizing with or without Adobe ID. You can see advantages of authorizing your computer with Adobe ID within red box above.

15. Click the checkbox and ‘Next’ to authorize your computer without an Adobe ID.

16. Finally, click ‘Authorize’.

17. Or, you can authorize your computer with an Adobe ID
Or, you can authorize your computer with an Adobe ID. Click ‘Create an Adobe ID’ to do so.

18. If you already have an Adobe ID, simply enter your credentials and click ‘Sign In’ button. If you don’t have an Adobe ID yet, click ‘Get an Adobe ID’, enter requested info and click ‘Sign Up’ button.

19. After signing in/signing up, you will be directed to ‘My Adobe’ screen
After signing in/signing up, you will be directed to ‘My Adobe’ screen. Now, you can go back to Adobe Digital Editions and authorize your computer.

20. Click ‘Authorize’ after entering your Adobe credentials.

21. You’ll be notified that your computer has been authorized
You’ll be notified that your computer has been authorized. After clicking ‘OK’, your eBook will be downloaded and checked out automatically.

22. Your eBook will be opened within Adobe Digital Editions
Your eBook will be opened within Adobe Digital Editions. You can click ‘Library’ link anytime to see all your checked out eBooks.

23. Within your library, by right-clicking on eBooks you can take some actions such as returning borrowed item, item info, etc.
