2 BACKGROUND NAF employment is considered federal employment
Different from federal civil service employment because of salary source Created for eligible Admin Separates Six major DOD NAF employers

3 PURPOSE Assists eligible involuntary separates and their family members with a one time employment preference for a NAF position TSM and their family members must meet minimum eligibility Eligibility is based on SPD code on DD214

4 ELIGIBILITY TSM : involuntary separation
Who are receiving an admin separation which results in an honorable discharge Honorable discharge must not result in a derogatory nature Members SPD code must confer eligibility for this preference The Office of the Secretary of Defense confers the transition benefit Block 26 and 28 on the DD214 are the only blocks to determine eligibility.

5 ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Two types: Flexible and regular Flexible: depends on the activities' need. Zero to 40 hours. No benefits Regular: Work hours and received benefits Receive benefits: Health/ life insurance, leave, retirement/401k
