Sensory memory By Crystal & Stephen

Sensory Memory *Sensory memory is the entry point of memory *Sensory has the capacity to store all sensory experiences , however only briefly, and therefore it is assumed to be unlimited in capacity.

* An important function of sensory memory is that it stores sensory information (what we hear, see, feel, taste and smell) long enough so that other incoming sensory information can over lap the already processed sensory information. This is important because it enables us to perceive the world as continuous rather then stoping and starting images and sounds

*Sensory memory is stored in separate sub systems called Sensory registers . It is believed that there is one register for each sense.

If Rehearsed or Revised
Incoming Sensory in formation If we pay attention to the sense it is transferred into our STM Sensory Memory attention Short Term or working memory Long term memory If Rehearsed or Revised Encoded into long term
