3. Family Interview
Mr Kui Patsaya, 50 years old, wife’s name is Nang La Patsaya, 46 years old, with 5 children (3 girls). His family lives in Namakyom village (Laotheung), Hong Sa district, Sayaboury province. Namakyom is a development target village of the project in Hong Sa district, during Before the project, this village used to be a poorest one, because of Laotheung village, the people still have undeveloped attitude. Therefore, it’s difficult to develop. Now, after the project has been implementing, all people together develop their families step by step and the living condition is better. Before the project Mr Kuis’ family was poor, they had no land for food production and kept on shifting cultivation activity and no extra income from agriculture, Now, his family is better, has 2 permanent houses (1 is in Hong Sa), and they have cultivated area to respond for living.
Based on the interview, his family is developed step by step if compare to before the project come,especially the livestock is benefit to him , which his family can more income from selling animal and now his family already get out of poverty and become a pilot family in the village. The extra income can support his children for school 1 in Louangphabang collage and 1 in the National University in Dongdok, Vientiane. For more details please see next slide

Permanent upland cultivation because no plain area for developing paddy field, last year they got about 3 ton of productivity.
Mulberry ha, earn 300,000 kip/year.
Teak wood 1.5 ha.
Fruit tree, pineapple and banana.
Garlic 1.5 ha
10 buffalo and already sold 5 buffalo for rice mill machine.

5. Before project Present
20 cow, this year they can get about kip.
100 poultry
Trained on livestock, breeding and feeding.
5 training on livestock and agronomy

1 elementary school constructed by project with community contribution in labor and some local material.
Enough teacher, now there are 3 teacher.
Children have opportunity for school, 1 is studying in National University of Laos, 1 is in Louangpabang collage..

6. Before project Present Health Health No dispensary
When the member of family sick, there was no place to cure and no medicine. So, people turn to traditional and unauthorized doctors.

No toilet always effected by diarrhea disease.

When get sick we can go to district hospital because the road is good and we also have motorbike.
The sickness has been reduced because of good transportation.
Have campaigning on sanitation.
