What sort of inventions were created during The Renaissance Era?

The Gutenberg Printing Press
Johannes Gutenberg created the Printing Press in It was created to put ink on clothes or paper. However, it was mainly used for books. The first book printed was The Bible. The creation of books increased everyone’s knowledge.

Wallpaper Wallpaper began as a cheap cover up on walls in the 1400s. It was modified over the next two centuries. During the 1500s, it was used mainly by the rich. In the early 1600s, the Chinese added design to it.

Winged Flying Machine Also known as the “Ornithopter”. It was created by the well known Renaissance Man: Leonardo Da Vinci. He was inspired by many flying animals and wanted to make flight for humans possible. The machine was meant to be used manually as the flyer would have to flap the wings themselves. Therefore, it just did not work. However, the concept of it encouraged flying machines today.

Anemometer Leonardo Da Vinci helped bring this idea to life. He used this invention as a guide for his Winged Flying Machine to measure the speed of the wind. The original anemometer was created some time between 1450 by Leon Batista; from Da Vinci reinvented it.

Submarine Also thought up by Leonardo Da Vinci. He came up with the blueprint but in William Borne modified the creation of the submarine. He added extra tanks to allow more pressure and go lower in water. It was not built until 1620.

The Pendulum Another variation of the clock which was originally created in the 1300s. In 1581, Galileo invented The Pendulum. Time was told originally simply by looking at your shadow to tell whether it was closer to morning or night time. The Pendulum added the hour, minute, and second hand to tell time much more accurately.

Flushing Toilet Created in 1596 by Sir John Harington. He called it the “Water Closet”. He had created it for Queen Elizabeth and himself to use. He had only created one but it was the foundation to the creation of flushable toilets.

Microscope Created by Hans Janssen and his son Zacharia, some time between It has two lenses used to bend light and make images larger to observe things too small for the human eye to see. In 1660, it was used to study bacteria.

Telescope In 1608, Hans Lippershey invented the telescope. It was created to support Nicolaus Copernicus’ theory of the Earth revolving around the sun and not the other way around. A year later, Galileo modified it to allow it to zoom in up to 30 times.

Improved Glasses The creation of glasses dates back to the 1400’s. However in 1623, they were recreated to try on different lenses and improve glasses instead of having only one set of lenses.
