2. Mathematical Exploration
Main Parts:
Introduction
What you are investigating & why you are interested in it.
What you want to achieve
Main Exploration
Explain what you are doing & reflect on your results as you get them. There should be a variety of mathematical representations and if relevant, good use of technology.
Clear & easy to follow explanations to demonstrate your understanding.
Conclusion
What are your results? Did you achieve your aim? What questions arose during your exploration & are there any limitations or problems with your results?
Bibliography
All sources must be fully cited (MLA).

3. Mathematical Exploration
3 Key Areas:
Mathematics
You must DO some maths! To show you understand what you are doing, you need to discuss results, explain why you are doing a process, and any limitations to your results.
Good Communication
Well organized with full sentences, paragraphs and headings. All diagrams, tables and graphs are titled & mathematical terminology and notation are correct throughout.
Personal Engagement
Demonstrated by the quality of your reflections & doing something that shows your mathematical curiosity.

AISG teachers mark & moderate it
All marks are submitted to the IB & a random sample is taken to check the marking
All Math SL marks are modified (or not) as a result of IB moderation
