UC:CSU only recognize courses that are posted on the UC doorways website for each school Schools are responsible for ensuring that their course lists are updated every year Students will not receive credit for A-G courses taken at a particular school that are not posted on the UC doorways website for that particular school 6

18 LAUSD GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS
“a-g” Minimum Requirements Validation applies to Math, LOTE, Chemistry Substitution: Using another course in the same category to fulfill a subject area English: at most 2 semesters (or 1 year) of ELD may be used to meet the 4 year requirement Some requirements overlap CDE Requirements Math: 2 years of any math and the Algebra Requirement History: World Hist, US Hist, Govt, Econ Additional LAUSD Requirements 18

19 Defining “Credit” A-G Credit
Years completed (grade of C or better) – demonstrated by A-G coursework OR SAT/AP/IB Exams CDE Credit Years completed (grade of D or better) – demonstrated by credit earned at a high school. District (LEA) is responsible for defining meeting the CDE requirements. Numerical Credit The District (LEA) establishes the number of credits earned per course passed. In LAUSD, 5 credits are earned for each semester course (grade of D or better). Credits are based on Carnegie units – in general, 60 hours is equivalent to 5 credits. 19

20 Graduation Requirements Clarification
2014 & 2015 230 Credits No Validation No Substitution Applied Tech Computer Literacy 2016 210 Credits A-G: “D” or better: Substitution Validation Enrollment is required in English courses in grades 9-12 Enrollment is required in math courses in grades 9,10,11 Middle School students will not receive numerical credit except in Algebra 1 with EOC HS LOTE numerical and A-G credit for specific exams passed (BUL and BUL ) 2017 210 Credits A-G: “C” or better: Substitution Validation Enrollment is required in English courses in grades 9-12 Enrollment is required in math courses in grades 9,10,11 Middle School students will not receive numerical credit except in Algebra 1 with EOC HS LOTE A-G credit (no numerical credit) for specific exams passed (BUL ) 20

21 Graduation Waivers/Exemptions
CDE:  Algebra 1 Waiver – Education Code (EC) Section (REF ) CAHSEE – IEP Physical Education – (severe injury or illness) AB167 (new AB 216)– allows students in foster care to graduate high school by completing only the minimum state requirements 21
