1 Start Smart Soccer 2017 Parent’s Meeting

2 Meet your coaches Coach Jordan Coach Hannah

3 Meeting times and location
Monday nights from 6:00-7:00 PM OR Tuesday nights from 6:00-7:00PM We will meet at Blue Ridge Gym (Behind Shades Mountain Elementary) 2250 Sumpter Street, Hoover, AL 35226

4 Dates We will meet once a week starting September 11th (Monday class) or 12th (Tuesday class) The last meeting will be October 16th (Monday class) or October 17th (Tuesday class) Monday class will not meet on October 9th due to Columbus Day. Pictures will be taken week 2, on September 18th (Monday class) or 19th (Tuesday class)

5 What is Start Smart? A Program that is part of the National Alliance for Youth Sports The focus is to teach children ages 3-7 and their parents the basic motor skills necessary for the children to play organized sports while working one-on-one spending quality time with each other

7 Basic Concepts to be learned
Dribbling Kicking Passing Shooting

8 Format of practice Warm Up/Parent briefing
The children will warm up with the coaches and the parents will be informed on the activities in each station Children and parents will go to each of the stations Fun game, related to the skills learned Cool Down/Wrap Up The children will cool down with the coaches and the parents will receive announcement and info about the next practice

9 Our first practice Week 1: Monday 9/12 or 9/13
Please try and make it to the first practice, this is when you will be receiving materials including Start Smart Shirt Arrive 15 minutes early to check in and “work the wiggles out”

10 Weeks 2- 5 At least one parent must be present at each practice. Parent involvement is necessary for the child’s success in this program Bring your positive attitudes! Some difficult skills may learned at practice, but it is important to use positive reinforcement and remember the most important part of this program is that the children have fun and spend quality time with their parents.

11 Week 6: Mock Game & Party The practice will begin with a mock soccer game putting all the newly learned skills to use After the game, we will provide a party with snacks and drinks Awards and pictures will be given out
